Welcome to Bulloch County - the Gateway to the Coastal Empire.
Bulloch County, a community now the home to over 60,000 in people, is located on the fringe of the Savannah metro area. While within easy commuting distance to Savannah , we offer a quality of life that cannot be duplicated anywhere that includes abundant cultural amenities, and ample economic and educational opportunities. We are especially proud to be the home of Georgia Southern University, the flagship post-secondary institution of South Georgia with an enrollment of over 16,000 students. These are among the many reasons why we have increased our population by nearly 25,000 residents since 1980.
Bulloch County citizens can boast of their professionally run county government. In addition to our strong tradition of providing excellent county-based systems for law enforcement, criminal justice, the judiciary, public health and welfare, we offer a number of unique governmental services customized for our citizens and visitors. Some of our recent and proposed accomplishments include:

• Implementation of a state-of-the-art web-based Geographic Information System that provides county departments and the public key data on land attributes and property information.
• Structured planning for land use, transportation, greenspace, and capital improvements integrated with a dynamic forward-thinking growth management system.
• Completion of the first of successive phases of a $10 million dollar Agribusiness and Conference Center . The first phase provides a 30,000 square-foot office and professional center for local, state and federal agencies serving agribusiness in the area. Phases two and three will include a 40,000 square foot indoor conference center and a 4,400 seat mixed use arena available for a variety of uses.
• Located at our award winning Mill Creek Regional Park , we opened our new $5 million dollar Aquatic Center and Splash Park in June 2004, which has greeted over 200,000 paid guests in its two years of operation.
• The county operates a regional E-911 center serving Bulloch, Evans, and soon Candler County and boasts a state of the art 800 MHz communications system.
• Acquisition of 294 acres for the development of Phase II of Gateway Regional Industrial Park .
• Continuing expansion of the Statesboro-Bulloch County Airport , including modern navigation systems, two new hangars and taxi-lanes and on-going terminal improvements.
• An aggressive transportation improvement program which over five years will result in over 125 miles of road improvements, numerous bridge and intersection improvements and an eight-mile multi-use trail connecting the GSU campus, and the cities of Statesboro and Brooklet. |
